Maybe use a loaf tin and shape it into a can shape?

I'd say -bake it in a can @ 325 degrees . I baked my Tim Horton's coffee cup in a large raviolli can. You can go to the grocery store and pick whatever can size would be suitable, use the product and you have cake can pan. I had a carve a bit, but not too much. Just use lots of cake release.

I made a mountain dew can a few years ago. I made a sheet cake and cut out rounds using a cookie cutter, stacked and filled with ganache, covered in bc, then fondant, painted. I found it easier to do the tall layers just like you would any other cake, bake layers then stack. HTH

If you are needing a can and not necessarily cake, make a RKT.
