Fondant Mat

Hi can anyone help me decide what fondant mat to use??? Or is it better to just roll out the fondant on a stainless steel table. i used to do it on the wilton mat but even with shortening a had a lot of trouble when it was a big piece. Thanks

I use the wilton mats but sometimes roll small things out on the counter. I don't think it matters where you roll it out as long as you grease your surface well. You would hate to have your fondant stick!

I use a piece of heavy duty clear vinyl from the fabric store. It's about three dollars a yard and nothing sticks to it. You do have to store it rolled up rather than folded though. I have a piece cut to the size of my kitchen counter that I leave out all the time...it makes cleanup much easier on that counter too.

I do the same thing as Texas_Rose. Heavy Clear vinyl from the fabric store. It's cheap and it works.

Wow great idea! I was going to go to Joann's and buy the Wilton mat tomorrow. But I think I will give the vinyl a try! icon_smile.gif
