I'm happy with the buttercream and fillings I use inside the the cake, but I'm a butter girl.
I'm wondering if anyone has a tried and true recipe that is great for piping (of all sorts---borders, names, et al) outside of the cake? Taste not most important thing, but something that doesn't taste toxic would be a plus. And Crisco etc would be okay. Just something that pipes well, doesn't melt to leave a runny mess, but still is fluid enough for me to do my thing! And something that doesn't have a pre-formed mix (i.e. Wilton "just add water).
