My son's 14th birthday was Sunday and he had invited about 20 kids over to our home and before we could get the party started he wrecked while riding an electric scooter he had gotten fo Christmas. He was out for a couple of minutes I guess.
We got him inside and realized there was definitly something wrong. MY husband rushed him to the ER and I started calling parents to come get them and before I could get it done my husband called and said you need to come that he had a head injury.
By the time I got to the hospital he was alert and knew everyone but still had no idea of what happened or how or even who was at his party.
They rushed him from one hospital to another one that had a nuerosurgeon on staff in case anything were to happen. We were in the pediatric care unit since then but finally got to come home today. Things went very well at this hospital and the doctors were incredible, can't forget the nurses either. The dianosis was a base line skull fracture so we have to take it easy for awhile. He still has blood behind the ear but it looks like he will make a full recovery. So if any of you have these things please think twice before your child rides it.
My son had his helmet on. Alot of people has prayed for him and are continuing to.
I guess I just needed someone to talk to so I turn to all my cake decorating buddies.
Thanks for listening to me.

I'm so glad he is okay! I know that was scary. My 2 girls have one of those things, and I always tell them the charger is broke!

Thank goodness he is ok! My brother fell off the back of a moving car (smart kid right) and it is soooo scary until you know they are ok!

I'm so glad your DS is doing all right. Any of those scooters, motorcycles, off-road vehicles are any mother's nightmare as far as I'm concerned.

Having on that helmet may very well have saved him from severe injury if not death. Again, so thankful he is doing well. Janice

I'm glad he's okay, I couldn't imagine going through something like that as a parent or as the child! He must have been scared too!

Glad he's doing better!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes and thoughts. It was a scary thing to go through. A couple of years ago my son wrecked on his motorcycle and I got that call at 2:00 in the morning and we almost lost him. Its like kids see no danger in anything. Kids are a gift from god and I won't ever forget it. He is doing well now we just can't let him get to active yet. That will be the hard part. Thanks again for being there when I needed someone to talk to.

Wow I am glad he is doing so well! Sorry I didn't see this earlier, we have been having our own scary stuff this week. So glad he was wearing his helmet though. I am sure that was a good thing.
