OMG I used them last night for the first time on my two tier cake and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I will never go back to dowels again...They were so easy to use!!!
For those of you asking where to buy them....I went EVERYWHERE looking for them but couldn't find them. I eventually ordered them directly from the bubble tea store. They are inexpensive and I received the shipment in 3 days. I ordered 4 bags so that should be plenty for a while.
What is the largest cake anyone has done using bubble tea straws?
The largest I have used them in was a 5 tier wedding cake, and no dowel down the center. The cake was stacked before I left home, and traveled about 50 miles on highway, backroads, and some hilly roads.
In fact, I have never put wooden dowels in my cakes. I used to use regular straws until I learned about bubble tea straws.
My picture is apparently too big, but here's a link to the picture on my website: http://www.chellescakes.com/WAJNWedding.html
I purchased 4 bags a few years ago, and just finished the first bag about a month ago.
Oh, and I loooooooooooooooooooove them!!!!!!!!!!!
