Does anybody have a good recipe for a Peanut Butter Cake? I have searched the recipes and didn't find one. I need it for my DH B-Day cake. Thanks
I have one but its a doctored box mix.. don't know if you wanted one totally from scratch or not..but here's what I do! (my boyfriend loves peanut butter anything..)
1 package butter cake mix ( like duncan hines golden butter cake)
1/2 c. creamy pb
1/2 c. softened butter
2/3 c. water
I cream the peanut butter and butter until smooth.
Add the eggs one at a time.
Then mix in the box mix and water.
I think I bake it at 325 for 25ish minutes (I have an old oven so I can never really go by time when I bake things...)
I'd be real curious as to how this tastes. Is it a strong or mild PB taste, butter, PB taste. I'm making my birthday cake in November and was going to do a butter fudge cake with PB frosting in between layers (YUM!), but this recipe sounds very good. Also, what flavor frosting would you put between layers . . . chocolate of course, but anything else?
In the gourmet flavors thread Jana did a peanut butter cake. here's the link: http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=614554&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=3885
Its a pretty mild peanut butter tasting cake but definitely identified as peanut butter. I always put peanut butter frosting on it because my boyfriend doesn't like chocolate so the overall cake is very peanutbuttery. I've put jelly in between the layers before as well (PBJ cake!) its delicious....
Thanks everbody for the help. bellabakes, your recipe sounds delicious! Now, off to the kitchen to get started!
I have had sooo many compliments on this peanut butter cake. It's "peanut butter cake III" in the recipes section. I love peanut butter, and this is peanuty!! Good luck!
