A friend of mine wants me to do a cross cake for her twin's baptism next weekend. I hate to buy the Wilton cross pan just for a one time cake, but I'm not sure what it would look like if I just cut a cross out of a sheet pan.
Does anyone have any pictures or advice they can share on a cross cake carved instead of using the Wilton pan? Or should I just fork over the $$ to buy the pan??

I've used my cross pan many more times than I actually thought I would. You can also use that shape to make other cakes - such as a airplane.
Good Luck!
