Veronica, that is freaking hilarious... LOL!!! I completely agree with the captions posted!

Ok here's a few more... I find her particularly funny when she's sleeping, so most of my pictures of her are in her different sleep poses...hahaha. icon_biggrin.gif And yes, there's one here of her in the bed with me during nap time... icon_wink.gif

The dog pics are great. i love all the stories. Adree313 we had a Bichon mix for about six years. We got her from the shelter and she was maybe 8 or so at the time. Such a great dog!!! She is no longer with us.

The day after we had to put her to sleep I made up my mind that we had to get another dog. Little did I know the dog that we ended up adopting was being taken to the shelter that same day that I made up my mind we were going to get a another one.

We now have a Terrier mix and she is so full of life and makes us laugh on a daily basis. Dogs are so great for your health.

Again--I love the dog pixs and stories

aquamom - we had our first bichon (or abby dogs as we know call them icon_smile.gif ) for 12 years. we got her for free when she was two and she passed when she was 14. amazing dog.

it was a huge loss for us. after a couple years passed, my mom's old friend from high school had been breeding bichons and we got another for free. abby 2! a couple years after that we got my dad another one from the same lady for christmas. abe! they've been nothing but amazing. i love them like my children and go crazy wanting to buy everything fun for them! icon_biggrin.gif

keep these pics coming! i love seeing dogs doing cute/absurd things! icon_biggrin.gif

She is so cute Caike. I also have alot of ours when they are sleeping, their just so adorable.

We didn't have a dog for a long time after my daughter (in my pic) had to have 7 stitches because of our dog (a bassett hound). He jumped up as she bent down and they hit mouths, it was terrible. We gave him away since she was afraid after that. Getting Bonnie and Clyde when they were so young (5 weeks) helped her not be afraid of dogs anymore. She loves them so much and vise versa.

They were very destructive (and sometimes still are) when they were pups, we went through lots of shoes, clothes, pillows and more. They have torn a hole in all of our beds, chewed on the walls, furniture, even kitchen cabinets. BUT, I wouldn't trade it for anything. We replaced all the material items, but we will always have the lovely memories of walking into my daughters' room and finding stuffing, foam, coils, and shredded sheets with two maniacs sitting inside (literally) what was left of one of the twin size mattresses. Good times......lol

It is truly a blessing to own a dog and anyone who doesn't like them is really missing out. Yes my house would be cleaner and yes we would have saved a lot of money along the way, but I feel there is something almost magical about looking into a dogs eyes and knowing that they trust you and love you unconditionally no matter what you say or do. They are always there.

Bonnie and Clyde are the absolute best dogs I have ever had and I miss them when we leave for a long time or they are outside all day. I can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring.

yep! we went through that phase! we've patched a few holes at the bottoms of the walls. i've gotten a few duplicate pairs of shoes because of them. our couch and ottoman will never be the same.

but it doesn't matter! we love them so much. we get so aggravated with them sometimes but i always have to laugh after because they're dogs! they don't know any better! jumping through the window is wrong? but i just wanted in! can't chew on the leather couch? but my teeth hurt!

i tried starting a thread of all the crazy things our dogs do but it didn't really catch on. hopefully this one will stay alive!

i love my doggies!

this is my avatar close up. his name is champ and he's my current foster dog.
the pic was taken at an adoption event.
he's so mellow that he doesn't need to be in a kennel or a leash while at petsmart, he just wants to lie on a bench with me.

Our newest dog, Maggie is hysterical. We're guessing she is over two now. She likes to climb up the rocking chair, using our arms and shoulders for stepping stones and lay on the back of the chair. She either looks out the window or snuggles up nex to us to see what we're up to (I'm usually on Cake Central).

I don't have a current pix. I need to take one.

veronica...I just told my little nephew to look at your sleeping dogs pic...he said, "are those cats?"...I said, "No, they're dogs"...before I could add "aren't they cute"...he said, "real dogs or cake dogs", LOL.

What a pertty dog, when the dog is clean. From the look of the floor, your dog was a real mess. I'm sure your dog had fun.

champ, the dog in my avatar was adopted today. he went to a permanant home and now i can take in another on the waiting list. this is our goal as a rescue organization. apparently, my heart isn't goal-oriented or didn't get the memo and it misses him.

I wish I could help out with fostering dogs. But Bonnie wouldn't here of it, the other two would be ok but not her.

I actually don't know if I would want to let them go though....that would be hard

i can usually handle letting them go as i know they're going to a good home and another dog needs a place to stay.
champ was much more difficult as i had him for two months and he was such a love.
i consoled myself with a glass of wine and experimentation with royal icing.
tomorrow, i'll have a new dog and will be busy dealing with whatever it's needs are.

"Apparently, my heart isn't goal-oriented or didn't get the memo and it misses him."

I think what you do is awesome.... think about all the families and pups you have helped! I couldn't do it, but we certainly need people in the world who do.

The perfect remedy if I do say so myself... LOL... icon_biggrin.gif

i think what you do is great. i could never do it because i become way too attached way too fast. i want to try to volunteer at the animal shelter, but i'm allergic to cats so i don't know if they'll let me icon_sad.gif

adree, alot of shelters segregate the dogs and cats so maybe that would work.

the rescue i work with is strictly "no-kill" which is the only way i could do it without becoming "crazyhoarderlady".

i had to share with my other dog loving friends...

i've been kiiiind of obsessed with the whole "detective/bloodhound" halloween costume i saw in the martha stewart magazine where you (the owner) dresses up as a detective (completely with cape, hat, and magnifying glass) and then you dress your dog(s) up with a matching cape.

so, today i was shopping with my mom and we found THE PERFECT STUFF! i found a houndstooth cape like jacket for FIVE BUCKS! and cute little jackets that kind of matched for the dogs! i was so excited. so we tried our outfits on and this is what they looked like....

ETA: let me just say (so you all don't think i'm insane) halloween is a HUGE deal around here. it's my grandma's birthday and EVERYONE goes over to her house for halloween. when i say everyone... i mean everyone. she's 86 had 6 kids who now have between 4-5 kids each and those kids have between 1-3 kids each. EVERYONE. icon_biggrin.gif

i found this one yesterday. i was babysitting my grandson when he was a toddler and it got really quiet. i checked up on him and found that he was visiting with my beloved german shepherd, sophie. i thought it was cute, his parents, not so much.
