Fondant Ribbon On Bc

I am making a 5 tier wedding cake next week. It will be iced in Buttercream and I want to put a fondant ribbon on the bottom of each tier. I want the tiers to look clean (no bead border on the bottoms). I was thinking that I would stack each layer and then place the fondant ribbon on the layers. (I figure that if I put the fondant ribbon on each layer and then stack the layers, that I might have to put a border to hide any separation in the layers)

But...I would like to stack the cake at the venue since it is such a large cake. So... how do I transport my "fondant ribbon"? Should I roll it at home and place it in a baggie? I really don't want to mess with having to roll the fondant at the venue. Have any of you done this?

Also, when placing the fondant ribbon on a buttercream cake, how do you avoid messing up the BC?

I will also be dusting the fondant ribbon with luster dust.

Please let me know if you have any ideas or something that has worked for you.

Thanks!
