Gum Paste Flowers On Wires

Ok so I bought the wilton 32 piece gum paste flower cutter set. And in the book many of the instructions say to put a piece of gumpaste on the end of the wire as the center of the flower.

When ever I do this though the gumpaste slides down the wire due to the weight. How do I make it stick? Wire is inserted into the small ball and next thing I know its a tire around the wire. So frustrating,.

Bend the end of the wire into a hook, and dip it in gum glue or egg white. For some flowers, you'll have to let the centers dry before you can attach the petals. Roses are like that.
