How do I get chocolate buttercream to be dark brown? I've got chocolate buttercream that is what I would call a milk chocolate color. I have added a bunch of brown (wilton) to it but it hasn't made much difference. Do I add black?
I was just having that same problem tonight, except I started with vanilla buttercream. So you have a headstart on me!! Anyway, mine was turning more of a gross gray-brown and my husband suggested adding a little bit of red. It worked!!! It's now more of a dark, deep chocolatey brown.
Ah, red! I didn't think of that. I was getting a gross gray brown even though I started with chocolate and was adding just regular brown. Thanks for the idea!
Wny don't you add cocoa powder to get it brown ?
