My First Wedding Cake!

I am soooo excited! A friend at work (Amy) asked me today if I will make a simple wedding cake for next weekend. HER friend is having a very low-key, backyard wedding. There will be under 20 guests, and no attendants. Really simple, casual. Amy is hosting a dinner after the wedding, instead of a reception. She says I can make whatever I want....argh.
So. I'm looking for ideas. So far, it will be square, two tiers. I was thinking plain white, with black ribbon band, and red roses. But I'm totally open to ideas.
I'd like to keep it simple so I don't get in over my head. Any ideas? Tips? Thoughts?

I love what you are thinking, it sounds simple, yet very elegant, and it will stand out with the colors. I think sometimes the simpiler the better. Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

Congrats! I'm sure that it will turn out great! And if she's having a simple wedding, then I would go with a simple cake as well. =o)
