I make my regular buttercream recipe (1 package salted butter with a bit more than 2/3 cup shortening creamed, add vanilla, add 5 tablespoons whipping cream, 1 tablespoons light corn syrup and two pounds of powdered sugar - adjust for thickness etc.) then I microwave about a 1/4 cup chocolate chips with a spoonful of shortening, then add that in to my buttercream.
I could eat that stuff by the spoonful! ...actually.. i do.
i take my usual recipe (either a traditional bc or indydebis) and just add cocoa. if i feel more energetic, i add melted chocolate!
xx
1 c butter (i use salted)
1 c shortening (i use store brand w/ 2.5g trans fat)
2 lbs p. sugar
1/2 c cocoa powder
After the fats have been beaten to death, I add the sugar and cocoa, then keep mixing w/ Chocolate milk (plain milk w/choco syrup works too) until it's the proper consistency. It is SO GOOD! It crusts too.
This is my favorite to use and it crusts very nicely too, everyone loves it!;

wow these are great recipes, can I use them for plain BC, my family doesn't like shortening. If I can't use the above recipes does anyone have any good BC recipes w/o shortening?
Ladybug78, the recipe I posted the link to is all butter.........no shortening ![]()
