Are powdered egg whites the same as meringue powder? Are they interchangeable in the royal icing recipe? I hate wilton meringue powder...it gives a strange taste to the icing so I'm looking for an alternative. Thanks in advance.
I've used them before but they had an unpleasant smell...kind of like eggs at the school cafeteria. They don't have the gum arabic or vanilla that the meringue powder has.
