I am doing a cake for my moms neighbors daughter (pitiful really she is turning 13 and never had a birthday party so we are giving her one). Anyway, I am going a Vanilla sour cream cake with cream cheese icing. Well my first thoughts were to do it natural color and do a princess theme....but nooooo....now Mom calls and says to do it Hannah Montana (so sick of Hannah and High School Musical)...but I still want to do the cream cheese...

My question is can you color cream cheese icing? I really don't know why you couldn't but I have never done it. So I want to ask instead of messing up an entire batch.

I color cream cheese frosting all the time, the same way that I color buttercreme.

Sure - you can colour it any way you like. I use it a lot for cupcakes and I tint it with paste or gel colours. And it works without problems
