Gumpaste/fondant 3D Animals???

I am going to start practicing making animals for a Noah's Ark theme cake I am doing. I was wondering what pointers you could offer me. Should I use gumpaste or fondant? What tools do I need? Any advice will be helpful! Thanks!!

I just made a Barnyard Theme cake with animals (it's in my pics) I made cow, horse chickens w/chicks, ducks, and pigs I also made a tractor and sheep but didn't have room for the sheep I used 50/50 fondant and gum paste and editable glue

I like gumpaste (Satin Ice). And I add a toothpick to hold the head on... Good luck!

I've just started making animals and figures and I've been using a 50/50 gumpaste/fondant mix and using gum glue. Check out aine2's youtube tutorials, they're great!
