Do I Still Use Buttercream On A Styrofoam Cake?

I am making a 3 tiered wedding cake this weekend and I was wondering if I still used butter cream under my fondant. I also read that all you have to do is moisten the styrofoam and the fondant will stick to it. Any suggestions!!!!

I use piping gel on styro...you can use water too, though.

I use a mist of water and the fondant sticks just fine.

on styrofoam dummies.. covering with fondant. mist the dummie.. use pipeing gel litely on the dummie.. some people use crisco .. litely on the dummie.. hth
