I made the Buttercream Dream recipe the other day. While good it is too sweet for my liking. Is there anything I can do to make it less sweet? Anything I can do to make it less sweet....now that its already made?
Also I can taste the powdered sugar in it, anything I can do about that?
One last question...How do I go about getting chocolate buttercream using this recipe?
Thanks !!!
ooops I thought of another question.. Are there any buttercreams that are not too sweet ?
buttercream is esentially sugar, so theres only so much you can do to stop it being so sweet - a bit of poporn salt can help though.
although very different to work with (non crusting), smbc or imbc might be more to your liking as they taste less sweet.
as to tasting the ps, i dont know, i havent had this problem, maybe you need more flavouring?
to make it chocolate, just add cocoa powder, or melted chocolate. dont know how much to add, i tend ot just add til it taste/ looks right.
xx
Actually I take back what I said
I had some cupcakes leftover from the weekend took my tool caddy out. Let some of the buttercream warm up on the counter, added some coloring and piped a swirl on a cupcake. It tasted delicious. My husband and son loved it. I will probably add a little popcorn salt to it next time, just a tad. But it was tasty!
I would dissolve about a 1/4 tsp of salt in some vanilla and beat it in there really well. That usually works.
