I will makinga 3 tier round cake & would like to attach fabric ribbon on the bottom of each layer, how do i attach the ribbon? what would i use to keep it on? by the way the cake will be frosted in buttercream!
also this is gonna be a "beauty and the beast" sweet 16 cake.....any suggestions??
thanks
I have used ribbon myself in the past and used floral picks with wire on the end, a small pc of duck tape or masking tape depending on what type of ribbon, to attach the wire to the back of the ribbon or if your ribbon has a wired edge you can poke the wire from the floral pick and wrap around the existing wire edge of ribbon. HIGHLY recommend attaching ribbon last minute as the shortening will soak into the ribbon making it look like grease spots, even after your buttercream has crusted. I am getting ready to do a cake next week and I am debating on making a fondant ribbon??? I have only experimented with fondant once, it turned out nice. Have fun!
I use double sided tape! I fold over the edge underneath using tape then wrap around cake on the end I also fold over and use tape and then use tape to hold in place. So I use 3 pieces. 2 to make clean edges and 1 to hold them together. I hope that makes sense!
