I guess I am just not the type of person who wants to do something over and over again, trying to master a specific technique. I'm the type of person who wants something new everytime. I am always up for a challenge. I only make cakes about once a month and the excitement you get from wanting to try something new just piles up and you just can't wait to try it. I guess I am very ambitious, that is why.
Even if I get 100,000 views, I still won't feel satisfied. It's not the views I want. I'm pretty sure that I am not the only one but even outside cakes, I have this issue. Also, as you can see, I am different. Kind of like the odd one in the group. I just want something that isn't typical. I mean how many people would love the silver on the black bow? Very little and I'm one of them.
Kind of like the odd one in the group.
Cakers are all odd, we're just in all odd different ways.

Thats an amazing cake...............very artistic and original........no way is it tacky or ugly.....unique for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like it because not only is it well executed, it's bold and it doesn't look like every other pristine pearl dusty cake out there. Have confidence in your eye. Do what you do, not what you think you should be doing.
Wait a minute... there were haribou raspberries? And you put them on a cake instead of eating them all?? What willpower... ok.. onto the cake. Of course this is not going to be everyone's "cup of tea" but that's not why you created it, is it? You obviously know that it is unique but do you also see that perhaps you are taking a very interesting turn in your decorating path? This is new and edgy and uncomfortable - very artistic. Think of Picasso and how his work changed from his early period, suddenly he finds himself and his genius emerges. This cake is interesting and for artists sometimes there is nothing better.
It's funny - one of my favorite parts is the silver on the black - so I'm just as weird as you are Rylan. From your description, I too thought it was going to be awful but it's not - it truly is amazing and I love it. I agree with another poster who mentioned possible using some red raspberry candy centers for some of the flowers but either way it's unique and wonderful and I think you defininately got the stylistic - fashionista theme you were going for.
It does look goth but I like it, nice job on your cakes!
It's very neat, so it's not tacky....it's VERY unique.
I like it...very well done, precise and clean.
I will be the first to admit that the reactions others' have to my cakes can make up for the flaws I see in them. If I post a cake and immediately receive feedback and a few favorites, my view of the cake rises. If no one comments, it reinforces me feelings that the flaws were too great. Sad, but true. So, that said, how many favorable comments is it going to take (on each of your cakes) before you are satisfied?
I feel the same way............it doesn't matter if I get 3 or 400 views in a day or two, if I don't get comments I am bummed lol..its really stupid....I guess we are only human
Like I've already mentioned so many times, it ISN'T the comments, favorites and views that will make me feel satisfied. Even if I get 1000 favorites, 500 comments and 1 million views, I still won't feel satisfied because, like I have already said, I know what I want and unfortunately I didn't plan well enough.
It's really different when you look at someone's point of view. I have a huge issue with flaws on my cakes. If a line isn't straight or if there was a small dent on the fondant, then it will just bother me. Of course not all people are like me, but there are people out there who are (especially people with OCD).
I honestly don't hate this cake nor do I love it. I am just not satistfied with the outcome. It is my style yet not impressed with the final look.
Anyways, I just wanted to thank the people who motivated me to keep doing more cakes rather than stop doing it. I learned how to atleast love what I create with all your help. THANKS!
