I need some ideas on how to do a water balloon themed cake for a 7 year old. About 40 servings. Any ideas out there?

How about a couple of tiers covered in splatters like it had been hit with water balloons. You could use hoses as borders and maybe put a kid on top holding a water balloon behind his back with an evil grin! lol

My immediate thought was to make multicolored balloons shapes and either dangle them from wires or thread them to the middle of some arched wires, so they look mid-action. Have a few splatted ones (blue piping gel works great for water) and a pile of ones "ready to go"

base can be sheet cake on board or just a thick board.

faucet and pipe is fondant or gumpaste over dowel or PVC

then big ball of cake with top extended (use RKT) to make look like a balloon being filled in prep for fight.

could rig so faucet/pipe attaches to central dowel through cake to have a very stable structure.

or sheet cake covered in grass tip for the servings and all the rest is combo of RKT and dowel/pvc

could scatter unfilled balloons (fondant) on grass
