Support Structure Tutorial????????????

I am making a pretty large scale penguin with both feet and arms hanging out, I need to know what kind of support structure to use? I believe I might have to use PVC piping. Any tutorials out there? Anyone done anything like this they can share? Thanks so much.

Check out what Bronwen and Francois have done for their "man stand"
at Caljava under Cake Study. You wouldn't need the legs for a penguin - just a center dowel with a "T" for the wings/arms anchored by a flange on a heavy plywood base.
