Making a record cake and thought it would be cool to make the record out of chocolate instead of gum paste. I can only find 45's and 81/4. Does anyone know if I can find a 12" anywhere?

Maybe you can use the actual record as a mold and pour chocolate over it (put foil around the record so the chocolate doesn't run. just a thought!!

What about pouring into a 12" cake pan, the use cookie cutter to cut out center after it sets, but before completely firm?

I actually had the idea about the 12" cake pan in the middle of the night. I woke up and it hit me. WOW why didnt I think of that when I was awake. Anyhow...

It worked PERFECT. I then took a compass and made the record grooves and than I airbrushed it black.

After I airbrushed I took a pastry brush and ran it around the whole thing to make the little music grooves.

Finished it off with an edible image label.
I couldn't be any happier.

I will post a pic when it is completely dry.
