I am attempting to make a hula girl cake and need to know and easy technique to make the grass skirt, I would like to to be round strings instead of flat pieces any ideas would be great.

a clay extruder is really the only way. otherwise you will be standing for hours rolling out strings of fondant by your self!
or you could mark lines in the fondant - not quite as real looking, but probably still pretty good!
