I was wondering if anyone has tried Debbie Brown's Madeira Sponge Cake for Sculpting Cakes and if you did try it how did it work for you and did you like the taste...thanks in advance
I tried it once if I can remember (right after I got one of her books) - did NOT like the taste at all & never tried it again.
For carved cakes from now on I'm going to try freezing the cakes and then carving them.
I made it ONCE three years ago and I still hear from my kids how TERRIBLE it was!! I would not recommend it at all.
I've made it a couple of times, its hard to get to stay moist , the middle bit you slice off to level it tastes amazing but the rest of the cake is too dry, I've rescued it with simple syrup but its not moist enough for me. Carves fine though.
