I had some SMBC in the frig. I took it out tonight and got some on my fingers soooo I licked it off. (relax it wasn't for a client)

It had a funky, off taste to it so I threw the rest out. But I was thinking, could the metal bowl affect it somehow? Is this type of bc better stored in plastic?

TIA! icon_smile.gif

I don't have the exact answer, but this is what I can tell you. I make my SMBC in a stainless steal bowl and store it in air-proof plastic containers. I know somethings can react to metal, like lemon juice and anything flavored with it reacts to copper. Hopefully someone knows more then me.

I'm not sure what caused the funky taste, maybe it was the length of time it had been in the freezer. I'm not sure of this either, but I think smbc should only be stored for a few weeks. You could try what I do. I store my smbc in the large ziplock plastic bags and then wrap that in plastic wrap. It keeps well and the best thing for me is it stores flat, not taking up all that space that a container does.
