Help! Need Recipe For A Doggie Birthday Cake

Our puppy is turning 1 on Friday and my kids want to make him a birthday cake. We were at the mall and they had a doggie bakery with cakes, but they were $15 for a little 4-inch cake! I asked the lady what they were made of and she said they were applesauce cakes with yogurt frosting, but I've been googling recipes and can't find anything similar. Does anyone have a recipe they would be willing to share?
