Which do you recommend? Is it easier to dowel through a particular one? I tried to dowel through a 2 tier cake and was unable to dowel through the cardboard cake board that the 2nd tier was sitting on (the 2nd tier was a dummy, could that have been too tough for the wooden dowel to go through that it refused to go through the cardboard?).It boggles me since I've read other people do it with ease. I did sharpen my dowel, but pushing it through was causing my cake to shift!

Incidentally, if you do a 3 tier cake (with 2 tiers which are made out of dummies), do you still put a center dowel through it? I may have to do this and its making me nervous. All feedback would be appreciated!!!!! icon_cry.gif
