I was wondering what if anything everyone charges for cake consultations or tasting.

It seems like most people do not charge for a tasting. However, others charge $25. Then if the client books the cake, most will apply the $25 towards their purchase. If they don't book their cake, the caker keeps the non-refundable $25.

I do not charge for wedding consultations (tastings). I let my customers pick 3 flavors of cake and an icing choice for sampling. I do not offer tastings for non wedding cakes.

I don not charge for tastings. It's just not the norm around here.
