mix 50/50 gum paste and fondant. that will give it the firmness that you need. 
i use tylose powder when i want a harder fondant when it dries. i just pinch with my thumb and index fingers and sprinkle it on a 2" ball of fondant. if it is still soft for me, i just add another pinch of tylose. then if its kinda "dry" i add a little crisco. hope this helps
