Combination Of Card Board And Foam Core??

On my 3 tier cake (14;10;6) BC. I am not decided if that would be a good idea to use only on 10" foam core, and the 6" card board. The foam core in 1/2", would that be to much visible in height?

I don't think added height is ever a detriment to a design. Why not use foam for both?
