You may need to knead in a bit of shortening to soften it up a bit.
First rub some shortening on the inside of the gun, then take a small ball of paste dunk it halfway quickly in a cup of water shaking off any excess,put a little shortening on your fingers then knead it till it feels like chewing gum then roll into a log about the size of your gun hole, depress the plunger till it stops on the paste and it will flow out easily and readily just keep pumping the plunger.HTH
