I made the penguin cake below for my son's 6-1/2 birthday party (he's a Christmas baby).
He had told me a few days ago that he was going to pay me for this one, a whopping "13 quarters", LOL! After he declared that it was "the awesomest cake ever!", I asked him if he was going to pay me now.
His response? "Well, I have to taste it first and see if it's good, and *then* I'll pay you." LOL!
This is so cute! My kids would just love it.
Hopefully you got paid ![]()
Thats too cute of a story. I really was expecting a tough customer. But my nephew is a Christmas Eve baby so we have always tried really hard to seperate the days. I love the idea of half birthdays.
Oh and I love the cake!!!!!
Well, even after eating it and having seconds, he totally welched on the payment, LOL!
Sorry the picture was so bad; I guessed I compressed it too much.
This was the first time we did the half-birthday thing. In the past, we did his birthday on Christmas Day, with the family. Open Christmas presents first, then the whole family comes over for Christmas Brunch, followed by birthday cake and b'day presents. I asked everyone to please give him two separate gifts, and use birthday wrapping paper. Then we'd have a party with friends in January.
That worked out well, but this year we decided to give the half-birthday party idea a try so he could have a pool party. It didn't work out as well; it is VERY difficult to track people down to invite them, and so many people are on vacation. We probably won't do the half-birthday thing again.
