Box Mix - Can I Substitute Some Rum Instead Of Water?
Decorating By FairyPoppins Updated 25 Jun 2009 , 5:22pm by FairyPoppins
I'm making some coconut rum cupcakes for a tiki themed birthday party. Can I substitute some of the water in my white cake box mix for coconut rum liquor? I already have coconut flavoring and shredded coconut to add but since this an adult only party I thought the rum flovor would be good too.
Thanks for any suggestions. ![]()
Definitely. That's something that i do all the time: try substituting water with things that add more flavor to the cake. i would do half water and half rum, that should be plenty. OR half coconut milk and half rum. it will be unbelievably moist.
Yes, of course you can! I do it in my pina colada cake, and rum cake. I also use other liqueurs as well.
Thanks ladies, I'll give it a try. Coconut milk sounds good too!
