I am making a stacked cake, using cardboard cake boards. Does anyone have any tips on how I can prevent / minimize the frosting from coming sticking to the bottom of the cake boards on the upper tier? I use a crisco based buttercream icing (Viva method) as my frosting.

Last time I did this most of the frosting stuck to the cake board when I lifted off the top layer, leaving a big (unslightly) area of unfrosted cake down below.

Use a circle of waxed paper, sprinkle with powdered sugar, or both!

Hi, you can put a thin layer of powdered sugar or I too like the idea of a circle of waxed paper. icon_smile.gif
