you might have wanted to put the wire on while making them. it won't take long at all with gumpaste to dry, i'm guessing you want them to stand up above the cake and how high. i think they would tip over with butter cream in them, if you just want them to sit up on the cake i think a straw would work, also you might want to make another set so it has both sides and then you can stick them togeather with the wire inside with gum paste glue, you just mix with a little water. other than that, i'll give you a bump
