Syrup On While Warm Or Cold?

Do you put on your simple syrup while the cake is still hot/warm or after it's cooled completely?

Hi, I brush some syrup after I torte the cakes, on each layer. But there is a carrot cake recpe that says to put the syrup after 5 minutes once cake comes out of the oven. icon_smile.gif
