I've never used them but from what I've read here, none are food safe. Some tips I've read are using the tiny coffee stirrer straws and stick those into the cake and then the wire into them. Another alternative I've read is to dip the wire into melted chocolate and let that cool and harden, then only the chocolate touches the cake so that makes it food safe.
