Can anyone tell me what I need to do to prep the styrofoam before i cover it with fondant. Also any tips on covering a 20" square styrofoam. am i asking for trouble? i haven't covered a cake more than 12" before. I m panicking. ![]()
I just moisten the dummy with a little bit of water before applying the fondant, works always fine with me. You need to let the dummy dry before you work on it further, otherwise it will be quite vulnerable (bumbs and fingerprints and everything). When it is dry it is really easy to decorate.
About the large cake, I do it the same as I always do. But I roll my fondant out on a plastic table cloth (one that doesn't stick to the fondant), its transparent. Then I put the plastic with the fondant onto the cake (or dummy) and pull of the plastic. In that way it is really easy to place it on top of your cake without tearing apart. Works always great with me!
Good luck!!
