Hi all, i'm practicing on my dummy cake and wanted to know which tip makes the ruffle look and any advice.

You can make ruffle with any rose tip depending on the size of ruffle you want.Most commonly wiltons 127 is used to make ruffles on the cake.

I agtree. Any rose tip should do the trick. One other thing...if you're doing a ruffle along the bottom and want it to stand out a bit, pipe a shell border underneath the ruffle. Like this:
