Well, you can take any applesauce cake recipe and substitute cooked pureed pears. Its a lighter more delicate flavor than apple.

We have a whole bunch of gentle fruit flavors like that for kids. Apple, Pear, Strawberry, Banana, Strawberry Banana, Carrot (without the shredded carrots), zucchini, etc.

For the health concious parents....

I say, just give them CHOCOLATE!

I have mentioned this before on another thread but am compelled to say again...

At my October 2008 wedding, I wanted cinnamon buttercream between the layes to match our fall menu...apple cider and all! Well, my cake lady (I wanted to do my own cake by I did EVERYTHING else and had to deligate) she used cinnamon oil instead of ground cinnamon, leaving the entire cake tasting like red hots! Nasty....cinnamon could have been lovely though icon_rolleyes.gif
