I am making a going away cake for some friends at church, they are moving to Hawaii...Must be nice!!!

I am a little stumped on what kind of cake I should make that would go with my cake theme. I have never made anything exotic so i'm looking for something that is dummy proof icon_biggrin.gif

Please if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them and if you have a recipe to go along with it that would be wonderful! thumbs_up.gif

How about a coconut cake with pineapple filling?

Make a white cake recipe and use regular coconut milk in place of milk. Buy some pineapple sleeve filling. You could even spike it with rum and call it pina colada.

also. as far as how to decorate it..on this site.. there are some beautiful tropical themed cakes..hth

When you make that recipe do you just mix it all together? I looked at the link and it just gives the ingredients so I'm not sure what to do but I did go out and buy all the stuff I just dont want to go making it and it turn out a disaster.
