16" Cake Drum Will Support Whole Cake?

I'm making a 5 tier cake with 14,12,10,8,6 pans covering with buttercream. Is the 1/2" thick cake drum enough support for the bottom or do I need a wooden cake board?

I would use a plywood base. That cake is gonna be very heavy! Better to be safe than left with cake on the floor!

I would for sure use a wood base. That cake will be really heavy.

That would be heavy! I would suggest you use something solid because that would be risky.
