how long can you leave a decorated cake in the fridge before serving it?

Does it have perishable frosting or filling? If not, it probably shouldn't be kept in the fridge, cakes do dry out faster that way.

Box cakes can usually be kept on the counter up to a week. Scratch cakes, depends on the recipe.
