You could use a clay gun (I think thats what its called) push your fondant through and it will make long spaghetti looking strings.

When I've made a spaghetti cake I just took a round tip about the diameter of regular old spaghetti and piped in crazy loopy patterns until I felt like my hand was going to fall off. 
I used a butter based buttercream and added just a drop or two of yellow to give it a more life like color. HTH!
