Hi All!

I'm new to fondant and the 2 cakes I've previously covered with fondant I used prepackaged fondant (Pettinice). This time I'm wanting to use MMF but need to harden some accent pieces before hand. Does anyone know if MMF hardens like the prepackaged stuff?

Thanks!

Hi,
I make my own MMF all the time and it will get hard eventually. It make take an extra day or two depending on where you live. I'm in Arizona and it's very dry so mine hardens in two days. Although it will be hard enough to work with if you're making figures or accent pieces even faster.

You can always add about a teaspoon of Tylose powder per pound and that is suppose to make it dry and harden faster too.

Good luck!

I just read on another thread that you can use a 50/50 mix of MMF and gumpaste for the detail work that you need to harden. I'm in AZ too and although the heat is a curse most of the time, on occasion it is helpful with drying. Good Luck! HTH
