The cake is phenomenal! I didn't know wether to laugh or cry, lol...great story... my family knows me sooo well that they know to stay away when I'm working on a cake! I've thrown a few cakes at the wall but decided to stop as I would always be the one cleaning it up. Kudos to you!

I so love that cake!!! I have never thrown a cake, but I threw (more like dropped) a lamp (actually 2) .... does that count? icon_surprised.gif My grandson knocked one over and cracked it. A few days later, my husband carelessly knocked the other one over and cracked it. I was having a really bad day. My cake was not going the way I wanted it to go and I really didn't have time nor the patience to clean up the mess. So, I unplugged both lamps, took them out to the garage, held them out over the edge of the steps and dropped them on the concrete. Ahhhh, so therapeutic. When he asked where they were, I told him that they were in the garage. You should have seen the look on his face when he saw them. LOL

After that story, I really expected to open up a picture of a lopsided disaster of a cake with a blank piece of edible paper on it! icon_lol.gif But instead...omgoodness - it's perfect! Wow! I am cracking up at you slamming the cake on the floor at your mom's feet...man that had to feel SOOOOOOO good! There' just something cathartic about a little crazy rage! icon_cool.gif I've never had a cake hit the floor on purpose (had one hit the floor on accident once when I put it on top of the washing machine and then mindlessly decided to wash a load of clothes...that sucker shimmied right off into the floor!!). I can totally understand wanting to do it though! I hope your mother got the message, but it sounds like it probably isn't a lasting lesson on her part.

I almost lost a cake on a washing machine too. I had it on there, my daughter moved it, put a load of clothes in, and put it back on top. A bit later I heard the machine spinning & I thought .. NOOOOOOO I ran to the laundry room just in time as one corner was almost at the edge. I do not put my cakes on top of the washer anymore, they go on top of the deep freeze now.

OMG you have met Duff? I love his show!!

Yes- I live in the Baltimore area and I met him at the cake show one year. I have also been to the shop and met some of the rest of the crew when I picked up a cake - they were all super nice. He's too cute!! It was a great and lucky experience for me!

LOL- It is quite funny- I'll never admit it to them but it does make me laugh! He says during the video that some day I may be on Food Network and this is the footage they will show when they are telling my story before I became famous!!!

As God is my witness - next time I go in our WalMart with understocked shelves and undermanned registers I am throwing an asparagus missle.

Well, i never threw one. But for my sons birthday, my husband asked if he could decorate the cake. I baked it, he attempted to decorate it. Took it over to my daughters house for a party for him. She got mad at her husband, picked the cake up, and threw it at him. Soooo, i baked it, my husband decorated it, and my daughter taught it how to fly. Never a dull moment.

How do we find said you tube video????????

I threw a cake at the floor/garbage can/mom last night. I couldnt get buttercream to smooth for life of me, husband makes me to stressed all the time, moms tellin me, oh Jake dont care what his cake looks like, & I started screaming that I care & it was bad. I finally wound up sitting on the floor in tears for a half hour. My mom called my husband, and said "uh. you better get home..NOW" I got up, leveled off the topsy into a flat tier, crumbcoated AGAIN threw top at the trash but missed & hit my moms foot & my poor dog had cookies & cream filling on her. So I stopped what I was doing & cleaned up my dog & then went back into kitchen, cleaned up that. And went to watch a movie. Woke up this morning to finish my ugly cake.

I don't have that problem with my mom, but I have three children who are constantly Can I help? Is that for me? I need this. I want that. My two younger ones are 3 & 5 so I get a million questions about everything ...why why why
So now I usually wait until they've gone to bed and I stay up all night to get it done. Then when I'm tired the following day my husband who has been on the couch the entire time instead of helping with the kids and the one who has had a restful nights sleep says Well, you should have worked on that cake yesterday instead of staying up all night working on it.
These are the times I wish I could throw a cake in his face. Although I would just be punishing myself because I would be the one cleaning up the mess.

Seriously, that was a really funny story even if it is sad but true.
My husband and daughter were both over my shoulder while I was piping on a cake...my hand started shaking and I almost gave them EACH a piece of it.
Note to family members: Do Not Disturb the Cake Decorators!!
You're cake is really beautiful icon_smile.gif

What a story! What is it with mothers anyway.......hope I don't get like that as I get older! Please tell me that your mom gave you nothing but compliments on that fantastic cake. And what did your Nanny say when she saw it? You did a wonderful cake for her, what a great way to show how much you love her.
