Well right now I have a licensed home business but it's getting out of hand and I finally decided to open a shop.
I found the cutest place in a very good area and took it immediately...I haven't process the fact that I'm opening a shop! I'm still in shock.
My lease doesn't start until June 1st but I think I won't open to the public until July.
Right now I'm dealing with the zoning department, after that part is done I need to get the dept. of agriculture to inspect the place, that's it.
I was not planning on selling anything on the shop but the area is great and very busy, some business owners I spoke were very exited to have a cake shop in the area as in right now there isn't any.
I have most of the equipment I need already, except for the oven and the display case, I'm working on that.
I will keep you posted on my progress.
What a lovely bakery, HeidiCrumbs. I love your display cabinet. Did you have those custom made? I have been racking my brain trying to find a way to display cupcakes and cookies and your display is the best I have seen. I am so green (like your trim) with envy....no, really I'm so happy for you. Best of luck.
My cousin who is a carpenter made all of my cupboards and display case. He is amazing! I keep telling him he should go into business, lol.
Oooooh!!! I love it! I would love to have your space.
Absolutely gorgeous! I also love the two steps and all of the display cases... it just looks like-- well, what it is!-- a REAL shop! ![]()

It looks like a good layout and ample working space. Good luck with your new venture!
It's ver " fresh" looking if that makes sense. It's a very pretty shop. Best wishes!
That is too cute! Loving the color combo! Congratulations and can't wait to see it all finished! I'll be looking forward to that post.
It looks so clean and fresh I can almost smell the fresh paint oozing out of those pictures. Many congratulations! Did you build an extension to your house or did you convert something to make the space? I am dreaming of a baking kitchen but don't thing it is doable in my house.
BakingGirl-It is actually in my moms house and it is a "third garage" type thing behind her already two car garage. My dad used it as a woodworking shop before he passed away. It was dirty, and dark, and had all kinds of tools and saws and drill press type things in it. I am kicking myself that I didn't take before and after pictures. My mom is going to be my "not so silent silent partner," lol.
Hm, going out to the garden to see if a third garage magically has appeared. That would be a good thing to have. I do actually have a workshop with an entrance from the garden. It is attached to the house and air conditioned but it is not quite big enough. Our house does not lend itself very well to additions in the way the roof is shaped. I live in hope I can persuade my hubby to go along with my plans to build a house on of these days.
Good for you, and good luck finishing up your bakery and getting your business started up!
I am working on my in-home bakery too! Yay! So, how did you plan it out? Were there specific things that you had in mind, like the placement of everything? Feel free to PM me and we can "talk shop"
Congratulations, it looks freakin' awesome!! ![]()
