Is strawberry flavoured gelatin (called for in so many strawberry cake recipes) the same as strawberry jello mix???

I wanted to try the strawberry cake from scratch, anyone else try that one?

Any favourite strawberry cake recipes?

the strawberry cake recipe on here that uses strawberry puree and strawberry gelatin is awesome. Yes it is just strawberry flavored jello.

Sometimes when I make it I add a bit of vanilla extract or lemon extract and lemon zest.
