I should know this but I don't. Can I write with buttercream icing on top of fondant or will it ruin the fondant?

Yes you can. I do it all the time and have no problems with it.

I haven't tried it, but I'm told it should be no problem. I hope it's okay....I'm planning to do exactly that on my cake this week!
